foundation for women’s health
We’re honored to announce our latest program at RFF: a new $5 million grant and partnership with Foundation for Women’s Health designed to advance women’s health research and innovation. Over the next 3 years, this grant will fuel medical research and support new initiatives that promote women’s health research, education, and care. We’re proud to share that this commitment ranks among the largest gifts to an independent nonprofit dedicated to women’s health research.
meet foundation for women’s health
Foundation for Women's Health is a nonprofit research fund created to close longstanding gaps in women's health research. Driven by the belief that the historic gender imbalance in medical research is not inevitable but correctable, they identify understudied and underfunded areas of research across the female life cycle and fund rigorously evaluated proposals to improve women's lives and advance equity.
about the partnership
multi-year investment
This 3-year-long, $5 million grant reflects our belief that meaningful change requires long-term investment in the systems and institutions shaping women's lives. It will address long-overlooked funding gaps by supporting medical research to improve women's health outcomes.

medical research
Research institutions across the U.S. have submitted proposals focused on chronically underfunded areas such as pregnancy and postpartum health, autoimmune conditions, and PMOS. By funding research in these areas, we hope to close knowledge gaps affecting women worldwide. Stay tuned next year, when we’ll share more about the grantees and their areas of focus.

the evergreen fund
We’ve allocated $1 million of the grant to create the Foundation for Women's Health Evergreen Fund. This long-term, sustaining investment vehicle uses an innovative venture philanthropy model that reinvests each dollar over time. The Evergreen Fund will invest in women’s health companies advancing therapeutics and diagnostics in fields such as maternal and adolescent girl health.

why this matters
Women's health remains one of the most underfunded areas in medicine and scientific research. While women in the U.S. experience disproportionately poor health outcomes, federal support for research faces unprecedented setbacks—creating significant gaps in funding and slowing progress in critical areas of study.
The need for private investment has become increasingly important to support women's health at scale. We hope to create meaningful change for women around the world by investing long-term in the systems and institutions shaping their lives.
